Mr Men Cookbook: Week 10 Mr Topsy Turvy's Upside Down Pudding

Squidge and I usually do the Mr Men cooking at the weekend when Gruff can take Moppet elsewhere to amuse her, but Squidge wanted to do the next one yesterday and Moppet was up for helping, so we made the next thing in the book: Mr Topsy Turvy's Upside Down Pudding :)

First, we turned the oven on to gas mark 4 to heat up, and then we folded up some greasproof paper as I didn't have a tin deep enough so we needed to improvise!
Squidge then put four slices of pineapple and four glacé cherries in the bottom, and drizzled them all with about three tablespoons of golden syrup.

Then we made a cake mix with 4oz of butter, 4oz of self raising flour, 4 oz of caster sugar, 2 eggs and a teaspoon of baking powder (or in this case, a third of a teaspoon of baking soda and two thirds of a teaspoon of cream of tartar as we'd run out of baking powder). Once that was all mixed together he spooned it over the fruit/syrup...

...and asked me to flatten it.

Then we put it in the oven for 40 minutes to start with (it ended up taking 55 in total, but our oven is temperamental)...

...and then tipped it out into a plate. We served it sliced with custard, it was tasty!

Next week it's Mr Bump's Bean and Sausage Plait :)
